Questions
What to Expect
We know it can feel scary to reach out. Here are answers to the questions people ask most before they call.
Yes - completely free. There is no charge for calling or messaging us. Yonkodo Foundation is a nonprofit and our helpline is funded through donations so you never pay a cedi.
A trained volunteer who has completed our compassionate listening programme. They are not therapists, but they are caring, non-judgmental people who are there purely to listen and support you.
Yes. Everything you share is strictly confidential. We will never share your information with anyone. The only exception is if there is an immediate risk to your life, where we may need to involve emergency services.
Absolutely. You do not need to be in a crisis to call. Whether you are feeling lonely, overwhelmed, anxious, or just need someone to talk to - we are here. No reason is too small.
We currently support English and Twi. We are working to expand to other Ghanaian languages. If language is a barrier for you, please reach out via WhatsApp and we will do our best to connect you with the right support.
If you cannot reach us by phone, please try WhatsApp or email. We also encourage you to call the Ghana Emergency Services at 112 or go to your nearest hospital if you are in immediate danger.
Still unsure? That's okay.
You don't need to have the right words. You don't need to explain everything. Just call or message - we'll take it from there.
